The audio guide lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours, depending on whether or not you choose to listen to the extra layer of information available in the majority of the rooms.
Yes, we can adapt the audio guide to work with hearing aids.
No, you do not have to use the audio guides. We have written literature in every room and we have tour guides to accompany you around the house. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The tour is conducted through use of an audio guide.
Because the house is grade 1 listed we do not have disabled facilities. The house is on different levels throughout and the tour is on two levels.
The house has many stairs. The ground floor has split levels throughout with steps up and down. The second half of the tour is on the second floor, which is accessed by two flights of stairs, and the last room of the tour is up another flight of stairs. Some of the stair cases have hand rails, but not all of them.
Some of the rooms have a chair for guests to use, but not all of them.
No photography is permitted in the house.
We do not have toilets in the house. We do have toilets on the grounds and if required, we would suggest you make use of the facilities before the start of the tour.
We are sorry but once you leave the tour we cannot re-admit you
Babies are welcome in the house, but we ask that you leave buggies behind.
We do not currently have baby changing facilities.
Tour guides are present for the duration of your tour and all visitors are encouraged to stay with the group.
No, we do not have a restaurant or café at Farringford, however, we do have a range of cold drinks for sale at the ticket office. We recommend the Piano Bar in Freshwater Bay or the Freshwater coffee house in Freshwater village for light lunches and refreshments.
Dogs are allowed on the grounds if kept on a short lead, but not in the house.
All large bags, rucksacks, coats, umbrellas, etc., are to be left free of charge in our cloakroom.
